Headed by a former member of a White House disability task force, the dedicated Piece of Cake Bakers founders and management also includes a third-generation baker, an internationally renowned celebrity cake decorator and a world-class chocolatier. Here’s a quick look at the Piece of Cake Bakers team and the variety of talents they are using to make the training program a success.
ROBIN MATUSOW, M.ED
As a former member of the White House Disability Group, Robin Matusow has worked for more than a quarter century in public and private disability consultation, specializing in development of programs using community partnerships. She was instrumental in the formation of Miami-Dade County Public School’s highly successful JRE Baking Arts Program.
PEDRO DIAZ, PASTRY CHEF
As a third-generation baker and veteran Publix Bakery Training Manager, Pedro Diaz brings a world of baking expertise to the Piece of Cake Bakers team. Currently a Technical Banking Counselor for global food supplier Rich Foods, Pedro is the creator of Piece of Cake’s color-coding system (which we’ve nicknamed ‘Pedro in Your Pocket’).
NORAH DE LA PAVA
For nearly 30 years, Norah, a native of Colombia and a world-renowned cake decorator, has turned cake decoration into an art form, creating cake masterpieces for customers on four continents. Among her numerous awards are the prestigious gold medal at the British Sugar Craft Guild and first place at the Global Wedding Competition.
Pablo, a graduate of Barry University and the Ecole Chocolat School for chocolate arts, adds a "sweet touch" to the Piece of Cake Bakers management team as a professional chocolatier and one of the country’s leading mold makers.
